NExT Exam or National Exit Test or NEXT Exam for MBBS is a renowned exam in India. It may replaced NEET PG and FMGE exams from 2025. NExT Exam 2025 Process
The National Exit Test is conducted in two parts- NExT 1 and NExT2. The first exam will be a theory paper and the second test will be practical test. Those who qualify for Step 1 will be eligible for an internship and later appear for a practical exam.
Details of NExT Step 1
NExT 1 will be a computer-based test comprised of 540 multiple-choice questions. There will be 6 papers consisting of the subjects studied in the final MBBS course, Part 1 and Part 2. After completing the final year of MBBS from a recognized medical college will appear for the exam. NExT MBBS is commenced once in a year before the University Practical Examination for the III MBBS (Part2)/Final MBBS preceding Compulsory Rotating Internship.
NMC NExT Step 1 supplementary exam is commenced once in a year and those who fail to clear one or more subjects will appear in the same. Candidate can appear ‘N’ number of times without any restriction. Kindly note, candidate need to clear the NExT step 1 exam in 10 years of joining MBBS.
Details of NExT Step 2
NExT Step 2 is a practical/clinical and viva-based examination. NExT 2 would be a live exam commenced by the respective state Health Universities or Institutions. Paper 2 will be consisted of 7 clinical subjects/disciplines.
Paper 2 is fully clinical-based, stimulated patients aimed at making out the clinical skills in the candidate. Candidate’s decision-making skills and communication skills are also tested in test 2.
Eligibility Criteria for NExT 2025
Here are the eligibility conditions to appear in the EXiT Test:
All the applicants must be undergraduate medical students pursuing MBBS from medical colleges approved by NMC.
All Foreign Medical Graduates approved by NMC to obtain the license to practice medicine as a registered medical practitioner in the nation.
If the person is possessed with the medical degree for obtaining the academic course, observership, or any other requirement approved by NMC

Syllabus
