Several prestigious institutes, including IISc, IISERs, NISER, and others, collaborate to organize the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST). JEST is a screening test for admission to PhD and Int. The JEST exam is conducted for only two subjects which are Physics and Theoretical Computer Science.

Eligibility Criteria for a PhD in Physics in JEST 2024
- The requirements for taking the JEST exam for a PhD in Physics vary from institution to college.
- Physics Master’s Degree (in all participating Institutes).
- MSc in Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Optics & Photonics, Instrumentation, and Electronics will be considered at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore.
- At IISc, IMSc, ICTS-TIFR, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, TIFR-TCIS, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, and IISER Thiruvananthapuram, BE or BTech will be considered.
- IUCAA will consider applicants with a master’s degree in physics, electronics, astronomy, or applied mathematics.
- A master’s degree in physics, engineering physics, or applied physics is also acceptable at IPR.
- SNBNCBS will consider candidates with a master’s degree in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, biophysics, or biochemistry.
- At TIFR, BTech Eng Phys will be evaluated.

To participate in the JEST 2024 admission process effectively, candidates must follow the requirements outlined below.
1st step: Complete the JEST 2024 Application Form.
Applicants had to fill out an online application form for JEST 2024.
