The festival appears in the month of Kartik according to the Hindu calendar. The day is celebrated on the 10th month of the year. Vijay Dashmi is celebrated as the victory of Good over Evil. On this Day, Lord Rama killed demon Ravana, who abducted Sita (Lord Rama’s wife). The day is celebrated all over the world with pomp and show. The processions carrying statues of Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Ganesha to the nearby rivers or oceans and immersing them in water. The effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna, and Meghdoot are burnt symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
