Indian Airforce, an air arm of the Indian Armed Forces with the third most powerful Airforce in the world organizes a recruitment drive for the intake as a Tour of Duty model.
In this model, the candidates will be recruited for four years into the Airforce and provided with basic training. It is a pan-India Merit-based recruitment drive.
Every arm of the Indian Armed force releases their Agniveer notification like the recruitment like Indian Army Agniveer and Indian Navy Agniveer.
Interested candidates will have to fill out the application form online and participate in the recruitment process. The recruitment will be short service based i.e., 4-years permanent recruitment followed by which the candidates will be laid off with few schemes benefitting the Agniveer.

Eligibility for Air Force Agniveer Recruitment
The following are the eligibility criteria for getting recruitments as for Air Force Agniveer-
Age Criteria
The maximum age required to participate in the Air Force Agniveer recruitment is 21 years of age. i.e., between n 26 December 2002 and 26 June 2006.
Marital Status
The marital status of the individual (male and Female) must be unmarried and they shall provide an undertaking stating that they will not marry for four years.
Female candidates shall not become pregnant during the engagement period such women Agniveervayu on becoming Low Medical Category (LMC) due to pregnancy shall be liable to be discharged from service.
Educational Qualification
The Educational qualification of the candidates is divided into two bases, i.e., Science and non-Science candidates. The following are the Education Qualification which is required by the Air Force to participate in the Agniveer entrance examination-
Science Candidates
- The candidates are required to have passed the Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics, and English from a recognized Board listed as a COBSE member with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR
- The candidates with three years of passed diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a recognized board with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English are eligible to participate in the entrance exam
OR
- The candidates who have passed Two years of Vocational courses with non-vocational subjects viz. Physics and Mathematics from State Education Boards / Councils which are listed in COBSE with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational courses (or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in the vocational course).
Non-Science candidates
- The candidates who have passed the Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English

- The candidates who have passed two years’ vocational course from Education Boards listed as COBSE members with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course
Medical Standards for Participating in Agniveer
Medical Standards are the most important factor when it comes to Air Force recruitment. The following are the medical standards set up by the Airforce-
Height
- For Male Candidates: The minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cm
- For Female Candidates: The minimum acceptable height is 152 cm
- Special Provisions: For candidates belonging to North East or hilly regions of Uttarakhand, a lower minimum height of 147 cm will be accepted. In the case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum height will be 150 cm.

Chest
- The chest of the candidate (male or female) must be well proportioned with a minimum range of expansion of 5 cm

- The Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately

- The candidates should have a sufficient number of natural and sound teeth. A minimum of 14 dental points will be acceptable.

Gynaecological Examination (For female candidates)
- The female candidates have to go through the Gynaecological Examination which covers external genitalia, hernia orifices, and the perineum, any evidence of stress urinary incontinence or genital prolapse outside the introitus
Special Provision for Sikh Candidates
- Sikh candidates shall be permitted to maintain their hair, mustache, and beard. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and mustache

After 4 years
- After the completion of the 4-year duty, the candidates will receive a total corpus of Approximately Rs. 10.04 Lakhs as Seva Nidhi Package. This amount is the absolute amount that the candidate will get however, you’ll also receive interest on this amount.
- Agniveer Skill Certificate will be provided to the candidates at the end of the engagement period, a detailed Skill-Set certificate will be provided to the AGNIVEERVAYU, highlighting the skills and level of competency acquired by the personnel during their engagement period.
- If the candidates decide to continue his/her service, then they shall be selected for that, if selected then the candidate will be given permanent status and the benefits of the permanent recruit in the Indian Airforce will be applied thereon.
Note- No gratuity or pensionary benefit will be provided for Agniveer candidates.
Insurance, Death and Disability Compensation
The AGNIVEERVAYU candidates will be provided non-contributary Life Insurance cover of Rs.48 Lakhs for the duration of the engagement period as AGNIVEERVAYU in the Indian Air Force. AGNIVEERVAYU will not be governed by provisions contained in the Pension Regulations/Rules for Indian Air Force.
Compensation for Disability
The compensation for disability will be provided based on the Percentage to be reckoned for computing disability compensation, which is computed as follows-

Phase-II
In phase II of the selection process, the candidates have to go through the Indian Airforce Physical Fitness test and adaptability tests. The following is the examination that the candidates have to give-

Indian Air Force Adaptability Test I & II
The candidates who have passed the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will have to go through the Adaptability test which will be conducted in Adaptability Test- I and Adaptability Test- II. The following are the details provided-
Adaptability Test- I
This examination is an objective type written test conducted to evaluate the candidates for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather, and operational conditions.
Adaptability Test- II
The candidates who pass Adaptability Test-I have to go through Adaptability Test-II as per policy. This examination is conducted to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and can adjust to the military way of life.
Phase-III
Indian Air Force Medical Examination
A medical Examination on the candidate will be performed if the candidate has passed phase II as well. The following is the examination that will be conducted-
- Blood Haemogram – Hb, TLC, DLC
- Urine RE/ME
- Biochemistry
- Blood Sugar Fasting & PP
- Serum Cholesterol
- Urea, Uric acid, Creatinine
- LFT- Serum Bilurubin, SGOT, SGPT

- ECG (R) (g) Any other test necessary in the opinion of the Medical Officer
Note- The medically unfit candidates can avail of the option to “Appeal Medical board” against their unfit re-evaluation by depositing Rs.40/- which can be paid online. The application for AMB along with an original copy of the e-MRO / MRO, and a photocopy of the Unfitness Certificate is to be submitted to the representative of ASC within three working days of the medical examination. The decision will be a solely medical officer and the specialist doctors of the Armed Forces

The following are the steps required to apply for the Air Force Agniveer Vayu application form-

- Now, click on the candidate’s login button followed by clicking on the registration button
- After registration is complete, you’ll have to create an account by providing your name, email ID, mobile number
- After registration is successful, you’ll be provided with the login details which will be one-time login details and after using it, you’ll be prompted to change those
- Now, login to your account using your login credentials and you’ll find the form which you’ll have to fill
- Fill out the application form with details like name, address, education qualification, etc.
- After filling out the application form, you’ll have to upload the documents mentioned below
- Now, pay for the application form online using your credit/debit card, UPI, etc.
- After successful payment, you’ll have to take a printout of the application form and payment receipt

Provisional Select List
After the completion of the Selection Process, A Provisional Select List or PSL will be displayed at all the ASCs and on the Web Portal. The date of the provisional Select List is 20th November 2024 and the list will contain the name of the candidates.
The list will be based on the performance of the candidates in the selection test and it will be determined by the application of the cut-off marks vis-à-vis the number of qualified candidates in phase-II testing and anticipated vacancies. If the candidates make it to the Provisional Select list, it does not mean not guarantee automatic enrolment.
Enrolment List
The enrolment list is the final list prepared for the candidates selected as AGNIVEERVAYU. The list of candidates finally called for enrolment in AGNIVEERVAYU INTAKE 02/2024 will be published on 01 December 2024. You’ll receive the E-Call letter on your registered e-Mail Ids.

Yes, all the Agniveers will be provided with an option to submit their enrollment application to become permanent cadre. The selection of the permanent cadre will be based on the merits. currently, 25% of the Agniveers will be absorbed by the Indian Defence Forces.
No, currently Agniveers schemes are not open to female candidates.
The joining salary of an Agniveer soldier is Rs.30,000/- and this salary will be upgraded to Rs.40,000/- up to the tenure of the soldier. So, the last withdrawn salary of the soldier will be Rs.40,000/- before the armed forces relieve the soldier of his duty.
